Updated: Jan 12

Upgraded & Ready: DS2 Revamps Air Force RADAS Hardware We refurbished & replaced outdated radio housing for USAF Civil Engineering's Rapid Airfield Damage Assessment Systems (RADAS). This involved: Sourcing components, building prototypes, & securing customer approval. Coordinating equipment return from CONUS & OCONUS locations. Upgrading enclosures with new power systems & secure fittings. Carefully transferring radios & ensuring optimal performance. Safely returning equipment to its home bases. DS2, a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, takes pride in providing top-quality service & exceeding Air Force standards.
DS2 upgraded & replaced RADAS radio hardware for USAF, ensuring peak performance & global deployment.

This project consisted of refurbishing and replacing old radio housing from CONUS and OCONUS locations. Repeated communication and coordination between CONUS and OCONUS locations was required to enable shipment of their radio equipment, rapid assembly, and return of the newly constructed RADAS radio hardware to its home base ready for its next operational tasks.

Our task was to service the key components of the Rapid Airfield Damage Assessment Systems (RADAS) hardware currently in use by CONUS and OCONUS Air Force Civil Engineering teams. To kick off the project, we were required to source all the necessary individual hardware components and build a prototype for customer approval. Once our first article received approval from the customer, we commenced the hardware sourcing phase.

One of the most crucial aspects of the project was coordinating the return of equipment from various Air Force locations to our facility. Our team reached out to Air Force personnel at each serviced location, ensuring a smooth process for the return of their equipment to DS2.

Upon the arrival of the equipment at our location, our dedicated staff immediately got to work. We prepared new enclosures to accommodate the existing radio equipment, ensuring they would be fully upgraded and refurbished. This involved the meticulous construction of new power distribution cables and boxes, as well as redesigning the radio enclosures to provide enhanced fittings. We also included additional accessories to complete the refurbishment process. After carefully removing the radios from their latch-secured enclosures, we transferred them into brand new enclosures with secure screw fittings.

This upgrade ensured the optimal performance and durability of the radios. Once the refurbishment process was concluded, we packaged the radios, along with any additional equipment, and arranged for their safe return to their respective home bases via a reliable freight carrier.

We take great pride in our work and the successful completion of this project for the Air Force Civil Engineer Center. Our team at DS2 is committed to delivering top-quality service and providing the Air Force with upgraded RADAS hardware that meets the highest standards of performance and reliability.
