PATCH Wearable TAK Integration

DS2 is excited to announce that we were awarded a contract to rapidly develop a TAK messaging gateway for Roper's revolutionary wearable – PATCH. Roper, a company that develops and produces smart sensors, recently launched PATCH, a waterproof wearable that creates a secure off-grid network for texting, GPS, and remote wellness checks. PATCH devices mesh directly with each other with AES-256 encryption and can be used as stand-alone tracking devices or paired with a smartphone for team monitoring and texting. Designed to look like a flag patch and with radio signals that hide in the background, PATCH provides a leap-ahead in situational awareness and team safety.

TAK integration solved two problems for PATCH: it provided a consolidated approach to data access that is widely used by the military and first responders, and it provided a standard interface with other radios and backhauls to push data beyond PATCH’s nominal 1.5 mile range. TAK, one of the US military’s most widely used suite of applications, facilitates operational planning, data sharing, visualized elevation data, and target management. By converting PATCH data to Cursor on Target (CoT) format, we enabled its distribution to other TAK Products, either through a TAK Server or directly to individual TAK Products.

In just six weeks, DS2 developed, deployed, and trained our solution, providing a Message Gateway with the ability to securely send PATCH data using CoT to TAK Clients. This rapid development highlights our commitment to delivering efficient and effective solutions. Roper has successfully deployed our solution in the field to provide over-the-horizon (OTH) data integration.
